Stage 1 – Produce Project Documentation

Receive brief and discuss requirements
Produce system documentation
Produce visual flow diagrams and screen mock-ups

Once we receive your brief, we apply our expertise to generate initial ideas and present them to you along with further questions we will have.

In discussing your requirements, we talk to you about the details of the required system, for example what data flows are needed, what information is to be stored and what outputs/reports you may need. We know which questions to ask to ensure all aspects of your project are covered.

We then produce system documentation, which defines the proposed system in enough detail to provide a concise description of all the components required.

This documentation provides full technical specifications and also includes UX, with visual flow diagrams and screen mock-ups, enabling you to easily see and comment on your data mapping journey.

Stage 2 – Your Review and Feedback

Outline of project costs and timeline

Once project documentation is produced and UX mock ups have been shared with you, our experience tells us to pause at this stage, giving you time to digest the plan, ask us any questions and make sure it covers all features you require and meets your objectives. We will amend our proposals following your feedback.

At this stage the documentation is a detailed plan, so we can outline project costs and give you a project timeline. The timeline is usually planned around a number of milestones or phases. There will be a need for you or your project manager to spend time with our project manager reviewing system releases and we schedule this into the timeline so that you can plan your resources accordingly.

Stage 3 – System Development

System is created by development team

Amendments, where necessary

We begin producing your system, following development best practices and project management methodologies to ensure it is developed effectively, accurately and securely. We provide regular updates so that you know how your project is progressing and you are able to feedback at any stage.

In line with the project timeline, we provide test releases to you so that you can review your system. We would explain which parts of the system have been built and you are reviewing, so that you have a clear set of criteria to check against when you are testing.

Any amendments or updates you give in feedback will be reviewed and implemented, as well as applied to the system documentation if this impacts the project timeline. We typically ask you to review any amendments in a following test release.

Stage 4 – Launch and Support

Full testing completed
System launch (full or in phases)
Guidance provided in system use, where necessary
Long-term support with your system

When we are satisfied that our work is built to specification and fully tested, we launch your new bespoke system, either in full or sometimes in phases. We will either take full control over the setup and launch of the system, or would work with your IT team in this launch phase. We have system engineers who are experienced in working on company systems directly and are capable of providing guidance to your engineers.

We aim to produce software for life because we know that as your business grows and develops, and also as technology changes, what might be right for today may need some refinement tomorrow. When these new requirements arise, we work with you to plan system changes – testing and launching, as required, to ensure your system is fit for purpose for the long-term.
